Guitar, ukulele, bass, songwriting, vocal, band, recording & production.
Micah’s passion for music started immediately after being introduced to the songs of Buddy Holly and Elvis at a birthday party in second grade. He endlessly annoyed his parents by singing along to all the classic bands they had long grown tired of. After a year of guitar lessons, he moved on to writing his own 3 or 4 chord songs and playing coffee shops and friends’ basements.
After high school Micah moved to Madison and started forming his first working bands. He quickly discovered that to better lead a band, he needed to learn the ins and outs how music works. That led him to study Jazz privately with mandolin virtuoso Bob Westfall as well as with Milwaukee guitar wizard Steve Peplin. In 2007 he received an Associates Degree in Music Performance from MATC. As a singer/songwriter and bandleader Micah has released three full length albums and two EPs and has been a staple in the Milwaukee music scene.
Micah started teaching in 2004 at Beihoff Music in Germantown. He started with 3 guitar students on Saturday afternoons and quickly built a roster of 40 students a week. In 2007, after the White House of Music bought Beihoff Music and changed the teaching policies, he and his fellow instructors opened up the Wisconsin Academy of Music to be teacher run collaborative of sorts.
Micah is currently accepting students for guitar, ukulele, bass, and music production for songwriters. Lessons cover all of the traditional musical territory w/ a healthy dose of current music technology thrown in for a more immersive experience.
