Meet Ben Bruns

Drums.

Ben Bruns has been teaching for over a decade and has nearly 20 years of experience playing and recording in bands. He studied in the Music Occupations program at Milwaukee Area Technical College from 2014 to 2018 and has studied with Dave Schoepke and John Calarco.

In 2015, he attended the KoSA Drum Camp, participating in workshops with John Blackwell, Dennis Chambers, and other drummers and percussionists from around the world.

Ben currently plays in a variety of groups including Blues Addiction, Superfly, the Brendan Demet Trio, and occasionally leads his own project, the Ben Bruns Band. He enjoys learning and performing a wide range of music and styles—believing that a good song is a good song, and behind every good song is a great drum part.

Ben offers drum lessons for students at all levels—whether you’re just starting out, returning to the kit, or looking to take your playing further. His teaching focuses on foundational technique, reading and listening skills, creative expression, and applying musical ideas in ways that translate naturally to band and performance settings.

Lessons are tailored to each student’s level and goals, combining favorite songs with focused exercises that build creativity and musical excellence. Ben aims to help every student find their own voice, enthusiasm, and appreciation for the drums and any piece of music they want to learn, and to develop the necessary skills to achieve their musical goals.
